How Task 52 engages

Four complementary channels feed the Task's evidence base and carry its findings outward. Workshops and elicitation draw on the expert network; webinars and stakeholder dialogue open the work to a wider audience.

In-person and hybrid workshops hosted by Task partners bring industry, research and policy leaders together around each Subtask, from scoping in Berlin to the Asia-Pacific perspectives gathered in Melbourne.

Convening the network in person

Workshops are where Subtask findings are tested against industry experience and policy priorities. Each event is hosted by a Task partner institution, and its agenda, presentations and summary are published on the Workshops page as they become available. 5 workshops and launch events are listed so far.

Expert elicitation

Structured expert judgement

Where published data are thin or contested, Task 52 asks its expert network directly. The elicitation is a structured online questionnaire: a short set of core questions on your discipline, sector and region, followed by the expertise modules you choose. Answers are pooled and analysed in aggregate, so that no individual response is attributed to a person or organisation.

The first round is open now, ahead of the Oxford workshop, and informs its sessions on the economic competitiveness of hydrogen-based steelmaking. Two core modules take about 12 minutes; expertise modules add 5 to 8 minutes each. You can stop at any point and pick up later with a resume link. Responses close on 24 September 2026.

Public webinars

Sharing findings with a wider audience

Not everyone can travel to a workshop. Public webinars will present Subtask findings, workshop outcomes and invited industry and policy perspectives online, with time for questions. Sessions are open to anyone with an interest in hydrogen-based iron and steelmaking, and recordings and slides will be published on the Outputs page.
