A hybrid workshop convening Asia-Pacific industry, research and policy leaders — with sessions on hydrogen ironmaking technologies, Australia's green iron opportunity, and industry and policy updates from Australia, China, Japan and South Korea, including contributions from leading steelmakers China Baowu (Baosteel Zhanjiang), Ansteel, Nanjing Steel and POSCO, followed by subtask breakout discussions and joint white paper planning.

Task 52 Soft Launch at COP30

Australian Pavilion, COP30, Belém, Brazil

Task 52 was soft-launched at COP30 in Belém, following its formal approval at the 100th IEA Hydrogen TCP Executive Committee meeting. The panel, moderated by Task Manager Dr Changlong Wang, brought together the Climate Club, The Superpower Institute, the World Steel Association and the Industrial Transition Accelerator to discuss moving from pilot projects to large-scale deployment.

Berlin Scoping Workshop

DIW Berlin, Berlin, Germany

A Task scoping workshop, held while Task 52 was in definition, bringing together international organisations and sister IEA Technology Collaboration Programmes — the OECD, IEA, UNIDO, European Commission, CEM-IDDI, the IETS, ISGAN and IEAGHG TCPs, the World Steel Association, the World Bank, Geoscience Australia, HILT CRC and Mission Possible Partnership — to help refine the Task's structure, scope and priority topics and to shape international collaboration, alongside subtask presentations and breakout sessions.
